Adding Custom Functions to WP Simple Pay

This article recommends adding custom code to your WordPress site and is intended for developers. Although we don’t provide custom development services ourselves, if you need help we highly recommend Codeable for one-time projects and WP Buffs for ongoing development, support, and maintenance. Both have people familiar with both Stripe and WP Simple Pay.

Please note: Custom code snippets are provided as-is and there is no guarantee they will continue to work across multiple versions of WP Simple Pay.

Do you need to add specific functionality to your WP Simple Pay payment forms not available in the plugin settings? With the various action and filter hooks available you can often times accomplish what you need if you’re familiar with writing PHP code.

Before you make any modifications, we strongly recommend backing up your site as well as test it on a staging or local development site. If you can’t access your WordPress admin, you can also deactivate all plugins via FTP/SFTP.

There are a few ways you can add custom PHP functions to your WordPress site. They each have pros and cons and come down to the preference of the developer.

  1. Edit your theme’s functions.php file.
  2. Create a custom functional plugin.
  3. Add code using the 3rd party My Custom Functions plugin.

View the action & filter hook reference for WP Simple Pay Pro.

Note we do not recommend altering WP Simple Pay code directly as it will be overwritten with any plugin update.

Is there a place in our code that we could add another hook that would be useful to you? Please let us know.
