Configuring Subscription Emails in Stripe

Stripe makes various settings available to configure your subscription emails

Manage failed payments

Smart Retries: Using machine learning, Smart Retries chooses optimal times to retry failed payment attempts, so as to increase the chance of successfully paying an invoice. The machine learning system behind Smart Retries uses hundreds of time-dependent, dynamic signals. More information about this can be found in this Stripe documentation.

Use custom retry schedule: This will allow you to schedule up to three retry attempts at varying intervals

Subscription status: What to do if all retry attempts fail

Manage payments that require 3D Secure

To ensure all Subscription payments are collected in a timely manner it is important to ensure Stripe can contact your customers with a way to authorize any payments that require additional Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) payment authorization steps.

Clicking the eye icon will show a preview of the email sent to customers when authorization is required. You can customize the appearance of these emails by visiting Settings Branding in your Stripe dashboard.

You can also use your own domain (instead of stripe.com) when sending emails to customers. See Stripe docs for setup instructions.
